Information about the Program Facilitator role: Emeritus is seeking a Program Facilitator in Construction Project Management (Live Online Program) for Columbia Engineering Executive Education Program. The Program Facilitator is a subject matter expert who serves as the front-line academic support for learners in the course, supporting the delivery of a high-impact, 12-week online program. The Program Facilitator will be working closely with the Emeritus Instructional Team and Columbia faculty. Candidates must have industry experience and demonstrate knowledge of the course subject area; they will guide learners through complex topics like trends and risks in construction, areas of project management, planning, scheduling, and development and challenges in real-world contexts. This is a great role for someone who wants work flexibility and the chance to diversify their resume with consultancy and teaching experience. This is an independent contractor position in a remote setting.
Responsibilities of the Program Facilitator role:
- Facilitate office hours to supplement conceptual knowledge in the async content.
- Regularly improve content delivered during office hours.
- Moderate weekly discussion boards to answer participant queries and boost engagement.
- Support learner queries pertaining to content and assignments via different mediums.
- Collaborate with the Academic Delivery Manager to improve engagement and comprehension.
- Monitor learner progress and provide support or escalation as needed.
Qualifications for the Program Facilitator role:
- 10+ years of extensive work experience in the field of construction, civil engineering or related fields.
- An engineering degree plus an MBA/master's from a top university.
- Proven experience leading construction projects from initiation to close, hiring subcontractors and working with vendors.
- Proven experience and knowledge about regulations, risk mitigation, permits and project management methodology in the North America Region.
- Proven experience creating and managing a construction estimate based on a material takeoff (MTO), and a construction project budget.
- Proven experience creating a construction project management plan with sustainability, environmental health, and safety at construction sites.
- Experience negotiating with general contractors and subcontractors to obtain profitable construction contracts.
- Proven experience developing a construction schedule, with project deliverables and milestones.
- Experience managing and keeping inventory of tools, equipment and machinery.
- Proven experience managing transformational construction projects from initiation to closure.
- Experience providing guidance and recommendations to management to ensure construction plans align with company goals.
- Experience supporting executive or mid-career professionals in continuing education is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills with an ability to listen effectively, respond appropriately, and maintain a mutual comfort level while working with a diverse population.
- Ability to translate content into actionable insights.
- Empathetic and learner-centered approach.
- Comfortable in an online environment, navigating LMS platforms (Canvas), Zoom, Slack, or similar environments.
