Emerald Law is a multi-practice firm established in 2009 conducting civil litigation, conveyancing and family law services. We are seeking a Legal Cashier to join our finance team and help us manage the financial affairs of the firm. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with legal accounts experience to play a key role in a professional and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Post Client and Office bank account transactions in a timely manner;
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations of Client and Office bank accounts, reporting any unexpected movements to the manager;
  • Reconcile and post Land Registry fees and any other conveyancing disbursements;
  • Process client payments, including taking card payments over the telephone and in person;
  • Action Faster Payments, CHAPS payments and cheque requests from both office and client account;
  • Monitor and manage ledger balances, including responding to queries, processing write-offs and posting miscellaneous transactions received via the cashiers’ central email inbox;
  • Liaising with fee earners regarding billing, disbursements, residual balances and payment queries;
  • Ensure all transactions and processes are carried out in strict compliance with the SRA Solicitors Accounts Rules and the firm's own policies and procedures;
  • Assist with month end and year end processes, including reporting and audit preparation;
  • Provide support to managers and Directors with ad-hoc finance related tasks as required;
  • Supporting compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) financial controls;
  • Maintain accurate financial records and audit trails.

Strong numerical skills and attention to detail. Organised, reliable and willing to learn.
