Are you passionate about teaching languages and broadening students’ cultural understanding? Emerald Teaching is looking for a dedicated MFL Teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) to join our team and inspire students in schools across Manchester.

About the Role

As an MFL Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective lessons in one or more foreign languages (French, Spanish, German, etc.) to students. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering MFL lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Creating engaging and interactive lessons to inspire students and develop their language skills.
  • Assessing and monitoring student progress through assessments, homework, and verbal feedback.
  • Promoting the cultural understanding and appreciation of the countries where the languages are spoken.
  • Differentiating lessons to cater to a wide range of abilities, ensuring all students can access and engage with the material.
  • Managing classroom behaviour and creating a positive, inclusive environment for language learning.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure cohesive curriculum delivery and sharing best practices in language teaching.
  • Supporting extracurricular activities, such as language clubs, cultural trips, or language exchange programs.

What We’re Looking For

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a degree in Modern Foreign Languages or a relevant field.
  • Strong subject knowledge in at least one foreign language (French, Spanish, German, etc.).
  • Experience teaching MFL at secondary school level (preferred but not essential).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
  • A commitment to cultural enrichment and encouraging students to develop global perspectives.
  • Ability to differentiate lessons for various learning abilities and styles.
  • Enhanced DBS check (on the update service or willingness to undergo one).
