Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of scientists? Emerald Teaching is seeking an enthusiastic Science Teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) to join our team, delivering high-quality, engaging science education in schools across Manchester.
About the Role:
- As a Science Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping students’ understanding of the scientific world. Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering science lessons (Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics) in line with the national curriculum and school standards.
- Creating engaging and interactive lessons to foster students’ curiosity and understanding in scientific concepts.
- Assessing student progress through assignments, experiments, and tests, providing detailed feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
- Developing and adapting teaching resources that cater to various learning styles, ensuring all students have access to the curriculum.
- Maintaining a safe and productive classroom environment, ensuring that students understand and follow proper safety protocols during experiments and activities.
- Supporting extracurricular science activities, including science clubs, field trips, and events, to deepen students’ understanding and passion for science.
- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure cohesive curriculum delivery and sharing best practices in science teaching.
What We’re Looking For:
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a relevant degree in a scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
- Strong subject knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with the ability to teach at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (and potentially Key Stage 5).
- Experience teaching science in a secondary school setting (preferred but not essential).
- Excellent classroom management skills, ensuring a safe and focused learning environment.
- A commitment to student engagement, using innovative techniques to spark interest in science.
- Ability to differentiate lessons for students with varying levels of ability and learning styles.
- Enhanced DBS check (on the update service or willingness to undergo one).
