Are you passionate about supporting students whose first language is not English? Emerald Teaching is looking for an enthusiastic EAL Teaching Assistant with TEFL or CELTA qualifications to join our team and provide tailored support to EAL students in schools across Manchester.
About the Role:
As an EAL Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with English as an Additional Language. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting EAL students in their language acquisition and integration into the school environment.
- Assisting with English language development, providing one-on-one or small group support as needed.
- Helping students access the curriculum by providing language support across all subjects.
- Encouraging student engagement and building confidence in English language use.
- Helping with translation or interpretation when required, assisting students in understanding instructions and lesson materials.
- Supporting classroom teachers in differentiating lessons to meet the needs of EAL learners.
- Monitoring student progress, offering feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Promoting cultural awareness and encouraging an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- TEFL or CELTA qualification (essential).
- A passion for working with children, particularly in supporting language development.
- Experience working with EAL students in an educational setting (preferred but not essential).
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Patience and adaptability, able to work with students of varying English proficiency levels.
- Ability to support the curriculum and assist with student integration across different subject areas.
- Enhanced DBS check (on the update service or willingness to undergo one).
