We are currently looking for 3 permanent Powerline Technicians (Shift) to join our Regional Operations team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform all aspects of line maintenance & construction, customer service work including one-person work and trouble response, ensuring compliance with safe work methods and practices.
- Work shift patterns based on daily and seasonal requirements, designed to maximize customer service and response to trouble situations.
- Follow the shift patterns as outlined in the NSPI/IBEW Local 1928 Collective Agreement.
- Be available for temporary assignments at other locations and travel throughout the province.
- Participate in competency-based training, regulatory training, and on-the-job training to develop additional skills.
- Ensure personal and team safety by observing and complying with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.
This position is considered safety sensitive. The successful candidate must pass a confidential pre-employment alcohol and drug test in accordance with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy.
Your primary residence must be within 30 minutes of headquarters, and you must be available for after-hours emergency service, rotational standby duty, and one-person work.
Preferred skills and qualifications:
- Inter-provincial Red Seal Powerline Technician Certificate with at least three (3) years\' experience as a journeyperson PLT.
- Valid Class 3 Nova Scotia Driver\'s License with a minimum of 2 years driving experience; a satisfactory driver’s abstract is required.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem resolution skills, with flexibility to adapt to rescheduled assignments.
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and multitasking ability.
Note: Candidates must upload a recent driver’s abstract with a 5-year history for their application to be considered.
Work conditions and physical requirements:
- Ability to lift 55 lbs. occasionally.
- Carry items weighing between 33-55 lbs., push, and pull up to 20 lbs.
- Perform static reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and balancing frequently.
- Stand, walk, sit, climb ladders, and perform tasks requiring finger dexterity regularly.
