The Company: We are a specialist building services contractor serving clients in the Commercial, Industrial, Film, Medical, Retail and Leisure Sectors. Our services include all aspects of M&E and maintenance of commercial buildings including new installations, repairs, modernisation and refurbishment.

The Role: Reporting to the Director, supported by the inhouse team and working with a number of consultants, sub-contractors and clients, the Project Manager will be taking a broad range of construction and maintenance projects from conception to completion. The Project Manager is to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standard. The Project Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers, managing customer demands, whilst driving sales and maximising the Companies profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients to discuss the scope of works to ensure a clear understanding of the client’s requirements.
  • Review design information and ensure compliance with the design specifications and drawings.
  • Where necessary write up the scope of works from information received.
  • Source suppliers and sub-contractors where necessary, to provide materials and labour resources required to carry out the works.
  • Obtain multiple quotes from suppliers to ensure that the most efficient, effective and economic solution is obtained for the task in hand.
  • Accurately prepare quotes and specifications for clients to give the business the best opportunity to be awarded the works tendered, always working towards minimising costs and maximising profits.
  • Prepare and submit relevant documentation including RAMS, PCI packs, CPP’s etc for full CDM compliance where relevant.
  • Work with consultants, professional teams and clients and ensure good written and verbal communication is maintained throughout the course of the project.
  • Oversee and ensure that all works are monitored, carried out and completed within the required time frame, within budget and to the highest standard.
  • Ensure timely production and submission of all documentation, including progress reports, construction drawings, O&M manuals etc.
  • Liaise with the Director on a regular basis, ensuring they are kept up to date on the progress and status of all works.
  • Create a good working relationship with all team members ensuring that the team are up to date with the progress of projects and clear instructions are given.
  • Ensure excellent communication with all stakeholders at all times, constantly building relationships in order to win repeat business.
  • Proactively source and identify new business opportunities.
  • Produce regular status and progress reports on all current projects.
  • Manage and promote a safe working environment for you and your team members at all times, being vigilant in identifying and dealing with any issues before they arise. Ensure Health and Safety policy is adhered to at all times and team members receive any health and safety training needed.
  • Manage Sub-Contract teams to ensure works are carried out whilst adhering to Health and Safety regulations.
  • Constantly seek to improve performance and learn from any lessons learned.

Person Specification:

  • Have experience in the Commercial sector/Construction industry.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft OS & Apps, Windows, Office 365 particularly Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Good knowledge of Regulations and Health & Safety legislation.
  • Have relevant professional qualifications or have a trade qualification.
  • Be enthusiastic and energetic with a willingness to learn and get things done.
  • Have experience working to tight deadlines and willing to go above and beyond, as and when required.
  • Be an excellent communicator and be efficient with time management.
  • Be flexible with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Have excellent attention to detail.
  • A natural forward planner who critically assesses their own performance.
  • Mature, credible and comfortable dealing with clients at all levels.
  • Be able to commute reliably to office base and sites when required.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Mechanical or Electrical background.
  • Have relevant estimating experience or has a very good understanding of Project Finances.
  • Experience of AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of MS Project to a basic level.
