GP at Hand is a large NHS general practice, delivering both digital and face to face care. We are looking for an experienced Prescribing Mental Health Practitioner to join our existing digital Mental Health Practitioner team. The role involves delivering remote digital consultations from anywhere in England, Scotland, or Wales as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, with a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week, with shifts available between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday. Patients will book appointments for a range of mental health needs, including assessment and, where appropriate, prescribing. You will manage a broad spectrum of mental health conditions and presentations comparable to those encountered in primary care. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong experience in assessing and managing mental health presentations and the ability to work autonomously in a remote clinical environment. A genuine commitment to improving healthcare outcomes, combined with an innovative and patient-centred approach to digital consulting, is essential.

What you’ll work on

  • Acting as an autonomous prescribing practitioner, delivering highly specialised assessment, treatment, and expert clinical intervention for patients presenting with mental health needs in primary care.
  • Providing holistic, patient-centred care and offering a broad range of evidence-based treatment options and interventions where clinically appropriate.
  • Confidently assessing, diagnosing, and managing a wide spectrum of mental health conditions and presentations.
  • Practising safely and confidently within scope, with sound clinical judgement regarding escalation and onward referral when required.
  • Prescribing in line with your scope of practice.
  • Applying an open and innovative approach to digitally delivered healthcare to improve access, quality, and patient outcomes.
  • Triaging and managing patients effectively to minimise unnecessary impact on external services, ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate healthcare professional and that referrals are clinically appropriate.
  • Communicating clearly and effectively with a diverse patient population across a wide range of clinical scenarios to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively within the mental health practitioner team and as part of the wider multidisciplinary teams.

What we’re looking for

  • Professional Qualification and current professional registration as a First Level Registered Nurse (RNMH, RMN, RNLD) or equivalent as an AHP.
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification.
  • Minimum 2 years post-prescribing qualification experience.
  • Significant experience as a mental health nurse or practitioner, ideally across diverse clinical settings and areas of expertise.
  • Confident and proficient in using IT systems and managing multiple digital platforms simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to talk and type concurrently.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in digital health care.
  • Experience working in primary care.

What we offer

  • Competitive Salary
  • eMed flex-leave
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • Life Insurance 4x annual base salary
  • Health cash plan
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity and Adoption pay
  • Health & Wellbeing resources
  • Eye care voucher reimbursement (up to £20)
  • Up to £80 towards noise cancelling headphones

Please note that offers of employment are subject to receipt of satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.
