Overview

This full-time on-site position offers great opportunities for career growth.

Shift Patterns: 07:00–19:00 and 19:00–07:00 – Monday to Sunday.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide patient-focused delivery of care, treatment and safe transport for high-dependency patients in a clinically safe and professional environment, utilising enhanced skills and regulated best practice.
  • Monitor patients during transfer, observing clinical status and intervening when necessary.
  • Check the drug bag, equipment and consumables at the start of each shift, replacing items as required.
  • Ensure all monitoring equipment (ECG, AED, NIBP, SaO₂, suction) is operational and the ambulance is equipped with the correct airway management equipment and O₂ masks.
  • Transport high-dependency urgent and non-urgent cases in accordance with HCPC paramedic standards, JRCALC guidelines and EMED Group protocols.
  • Comply with road safety regulations and exercise safe use of road traffic exemptions; undertake driving duties on all vehicle types if appropriately qualified and licensed.
  • Maintain the highest standard of equipment, vehicle cleanliness, roadworthiness, and base security; report any defects immediately.
  • Plan, assess and implement patient care; continually evaluate and provide advice.
  • Handle prescribing and administering non-prescription, prescription, and controlled drugs as required by the transferring hospital.
  • Perform invasive procedures where appropriately trained and competent, including cardiac monitoring and 12-lead ECG.
  • Communicate and document patient history, condition and treatment to a full range of medical staff, nurses, doctors and consultants, on route to or upon arrival at the receiving care unit.
  • Take responsibility for patient property and possessions during transportation, ensuring secure hand-over to the appropriate agency.
  • Complete all patient and journey documentation in both electronic (PDA) and written format (PRF) as required by EMED Group.
  • Observe and adhere to EMED Group policies, procedures and instructions concerning safety, confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information and records, in line with Child Protection and Vulnerable Adults legislation.
  • Co-operate with emergency services and other health and social care professionals to benefit the patient and improve service efficiency.
  • Ensure that all equipment, consumables and drugs are maintained at required levels and stored safely.
  • Conduct dynamic risk assessments of the environment, considering health and safety for all.
  • Adopt a code of conduct and uphold the HCPC standards of proficiency, JRCALC guidelines and EMED Group protocols.
  • Supply statements and attend legal proceedings as required.
  • Administer appropriate drugs permissible for Registered Paramedics.
  • Undergo regulatory pre-employment checks and provide full employment history if invited to interview.
