We have a fantastic opportunity for a Patient Transport Liaison Officer to join our team based at Royal Stoke University Hospital on the UHNM HDU Contract.
Supporting Operational and the Call Centre Operations Team, the Patient Transport Liaison Officer will provide on-site support to the Control team by offering assistance and solutions to patient transport service delivery concerns. They will act as the second point of escalation within the hospital for all patient transport-related issues. This includes coordination with Track and Triage, Occupational Therapists, and Care teams to ensure the smooth planning and successful delivery of complex discharges, as well as communicating with patients within the hospital to keep them updated about their Patient Transport Service bookings.
Working Hours: Monday – Friday on a rotation of 0800-1600, 0900-1700, 1000-1800. 37.5 hours per week.
Main Purpose of the Job
- Maximise patient movement in and out of healthcare facilities, utilising full resource capacity.
- Work collaboratively with Trusts, control staff, road staff, and site teams to ensure effective communication.
- Prioritise patient care at all times.
- Provide solutions and support in a professional manner during difficult situations.
- Respond to all enquiries and escalate patient transport service bookings as necessary.
- Attend trust bed meetings to provide relevant information about upcoming patient transport demands.
- Act as the second point of escalation after CCO, providing clear updates on issues being escalated to all service users.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate with EMED Controllers to meet daily transfer requirements and deploy crews accordingly.
- Communicate effectively between the trust and site teams regarding patient readiness and travel arrangements.
- Monitor the Cleric Booking System throughout the day to ensure smooth service delivery and update notes as needed.
- Liaise with control regarding new information about patients and bookings, updating the system accordingly.
- Assist with property assessments and upload information for future reference, liaising with site teams.
- Represent EMED in liaising with patients experiencing issues or delays, providing regular updates.
- Support service improvement efforts by providing feedback on obstacles to delivery.
- Act as escalation point for controllers unable to communicate ETAs, delays, or queries within the hospital.
- Assist hospital crews to ensure safe and timely service delivery.
- Liaise with site teams to establish priority for patient transfers.
- Complete third manning journeys, gather patient feedback, and conduct vehicle, staff, and site audits.
- Relay information during serious incidents within the hospital.
