We’re looking for kind, reliable and compassionate people to join our Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) team in Cambridge. This part‑time role (evenings only, 5 days a week, 17:00–00:00, 25 hours per week) involves driving patients to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the transportation of patients, including end‑of‑life cases, with a high level of empathy.
  • Build rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives or friends.
  • Lift, secure and help patients in and out of the ambulance.
  • Hand over patients to appropriate staff at treatment centres or to family/friends at home.
  • Transfer patients between beds, stretchers, chairs and other medical settings, both inside and outside hospitals.
  • Maintain the ambulance so that it is safe, clean and tidy.
  • Full training provided – prior ambulance experience not required.

Requirements

  • Valid UK manual driving licence (maximum six points).
  • Continuous licence qualifications are required.
  • Ability to work flexible evening shifts between 17:00 and 00:00, Monday to Sunday.
  • Experience in care (HCA, support worker, etc.) is advantageous.
  • Commitment to patient care, effective communication and empathy in emotional circumstances.
  • Physical fitness for patient handling and movement.
  • Pass an Enhanced DBS check (covered by the company).
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Employment Terms

Part‑time (evenings only), 25 hours per week with 5 days out of 7, varying 5‑hour shifts between 17:00 and 00:00.
