Operations Manager – Cambridge (C&P South Operations)

Job Overview

We are looking for an Operations Manager to support C&P South operations, liaising with our counterpart in the north of the county to ensure operational cohesion across the region. The role involves occasional travel between bases and leads day‐to‐day delivery of patient transport services, focusing on performance, clinical quality, and governance.

Role Responsibilities

  • Business performance and service delivery: Deliver excellent customer service while maximizing revenue opportunities and protecting P&L. Ensure the team has the required knowledge, skills, and capabilities. Embed effective business performance tools and maintain robust business continuity plans.
  • KPIs: Manage and embed Key Performance Indicators to support effective service delivery. Balance contractual KPIs against operational realities and identify improvements through logistical efficiencies.
  • Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across Clinical Commissioning Groups, Acute Hospital Trusts, Community Health, Mental Health Partnerships, and Primary Care. Lead line management of Patient Transport Liaison Officers.
  • Clinical Quality and Governance: Monitor governance and quality requirements, ensuring compliance with national standards for clinical, vehicular, and H&S practice. Promote a continuous improvement mindset and uphold the company’s Diversity Policy.
  • Budgets: Work with the Senior Operations Manager to maximize revenue, cost, and margin performance. Identify cost‑saving opportunities while maintaining health and safety standards.
  • People Management: Own employee safety, well‑being, performance, and development. Inspire a customer‑service excellence mentality and ensure clear role expectations.
  • Hours and Environment: Manage a flexible schedule driven by operational activity and deadlines, tailoring hours to the needs of the business.

Person Specification

  • A minimum of two years’ experience within a front‑line management level role with demonstrable business improvements.
  • KPI driven with a passion for improving targets.
  • Experience building successful short‑ and long‑term strategies.
  • Proactive problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Strong, effective relationships with staff, clients, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing Employee Relations issues in line with policies and procedures.
  • Meticulously organised with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Data analysis experience to improve operational processes.
