This is a full‑time position based in Cambridge, covering shifts between 05:30 am and 00:00 pm, Monday‑Sunday (40 hrs per week, 4 days a week). The role involves transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. Two‑person crews or single operators may work, so a full UK driving licence and good physical fitness are essential.
Responsibilities
- Your main responsibility will be to transport patients safely and efficiently, ensuring comfort and dignity at all times. This includes:
- Driving between healthcare locations and patients’ homes
- Assisting patients into and out of the ambulance, including lifting and securing them
- Providing support for patients with challenging behaviour or mental health issues
- Co‑ordinating hand‑over to treatment staff or families upon arrival
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and professional ambulance environment
Other Duties
- Assisting in the transportation of end‑of‑life service users with empathy and professionalism
- Building rapport through effective communication with patients and their relatives or friends
- Ensuring the ambulance is kept safe, clean, and tidy at all times
