We have a fantastic opportunity for full time night Ambulance Care Assistants to join our team based in Burntwood, Staffordshire. An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day, you’ll be helping someone in need, making their lives that little bit easier, and knowing that you make a difference to their day provides you with a real sense of achievement.
Your main responsibility will be transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This can be carried out as two-person crews or alone, so it is vital to hold a full UK driving licence and to have a good degree of physical fitness. This role requires you to work 4 on, 4 off overnight shifts - 18.00 - 06.00. Please only apply if these hours are suitable.
Responsibilities- Transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities (two-person crews or solo).
- Assist in the transportation of ‘end of life’ service users, ensuring a high level of empathy at all times.
- Build rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
- Responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the Ambulance.
- Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes.
- Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar, both in and out of hospital and medical/commercial flights.
- Assist service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
- Ensure that the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy.
- Committed to patient care.
- An effective communicator with experience in emotional circumstances.
- A calm, considerate, careful driver, with no more than three penalty points on your license.
- Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
- Willing to pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
- Able to work flexible shifts.
- Familiar with the local and surrounding area.
- £12.83 per hour.
- Full time - 40.25 hours per week - 4 on, 4 off rota.
