Bristol Ambulance (Part of EMED Group) have a fantastic opportunity for a Dispatch Assistant to join our team based in Bristol.

We're looking for a proactive and organised individual to support the smooth running of our daily ambulance operations.

Working closely with the Dispatcher, Control team, and Resource Manager, you'll help coordinate staffing, resources, and operational activity to ensure patients receive safe, efficient, and high-quality transport services.

As a Dispatch Assistant, you'll liaise with operational teams, Control, and NHS partners, monitor staffing levels, complete operational records, and help resolve day-to-day operational challenges.

You'll also support the supervision of operational staff, promoting effective communication, teamwork, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

This is a varied role that requires flexibility working a 4 on 4 off - 12hr shifts (42 hours pw)

Main Duties

  • Support the Dispatcher in coordinating daily ambulance operations.
  • Help maintain safe staffing levels and operational cover throughout the day.
  • Ensure ambulance crews have the appropriate skills, equipment, and resources to carry out patient transport safely.
  • Liaise with Control, operational teams, and external healthcare partners to support service delivery.
  • Monitor operational activity and escalate issues or improvement opportunities to the Resource Manager.
  • Complete operational reports and maintain accurate records using company systems.
  • Support the day-to-day supervision of operational staff, promoting company policies and procedures.
  • Encourage effective teamwork and communication between crews, coordinators, and the wider operational team.
  • Promote the organisation's Vision and Values while maintaining a strong focus on patient care and service quality.
  • Be flexible in supporting different operational areas as required.
