We have a fantastic opportunity to serve your local community and join the Ambulance Service as part of our Ambulance crew based in LEEDS on a bank (0 hour) contract. An Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) is a hugely rewarding and fulfilling role. Each day you’ll be helping someone in need, making their lives a little easier, and knowing that you make a difference provides you with a real sense of achievement.

Other Duties Include

  • Transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
  • Assisting in the transportation of ‘end of life’ service users, ensuring a high level of empathy is present at all times.
  • Building rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
  • Responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the Ambulance.
  • Assist with the handing over of patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes.
  • Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar both in and out of hospital and medical/commercial flights.
  • Assisting service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
  • Ensuring that the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy.

Qualifications

  • Hold a full UK driving licence with less than 6 penalty points.
  • Committed to patient care.
  • Effective communicator with experience in emotional circumstances.
  • A calm, considerate, careful driver.
  • A natural flair for team working and collaboration.
  • Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
  • Pass an Enhanced DBS check (company funded).
  • Familiar with the local and surrounding area.
