We’re looking for a Night Support Worker to join our wonderful team on a part-time basis. Salary: £26,403 - £26,824 full time equivalent (plus enhancements). Inclusive hourly rate: £15.33 - £15.58 depending on experience. Enhancements: Weekend working - Time & a half, Bank Holidays - Double time & Night enhancement (21:45 - 07:45 shifts).
Working Pattern: Part-time, 20 hours per week. Contract Length: Permanent. Location: Stanhope Lodge, Worthing.
As a Night Support Worker, you will:
- Provide personal physical, emotional care and support during a waking night shift.
- Listen to people and treat all with respect, kindness and dignity.
- Undertake light domestic duties as required to ensure cleanliness, comfort, and safety for people we support throughout the day e.g., laundry, or safely cleaning an area after a person has needed personal care.
- Complete regular hourly checks around the service, to include checking on people’s wellbeing and on the security of the building.
- Work as part of a team based within a residential setting.
- Provide safe, effective, and personalised support and care in supporting individuals to bed, getting up in the morning and responding to their emotional and physical wellbeing as required during the night.
- Be on duty for up to a 10-hour shift, during which time you are required to stay awake and able to provide appropriate care.
- Work evenings or weekends to meet the needs of the service.

What you need to succeed:
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of working with people with learning disabilities, people with dementia and other cognitive impairments, and adults with physical and sensory impairments.
Key Skills:
- Ability to build relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds, and ensure their views are heard and their needs are met.
- Ability to organise / prioritise work, co-ordinate a variety of tasks and work as part of a team.
- Ability to adapt communication to the needs of the individual.
- Ability to recognise the purpose for behaviours that others may find challenging, and respond appropriately.
- Ability to interpret written material and create clear written reports.
- Ability to assess and recognise situations that need to be escalated to seniors and/or line managers.
Qualifications and/or experience:
- Minimum of 4 GCSE's including English Language and Maths, or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable equivalent comparable experience.
- QCF Level 2 or Diploma in care or equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Previous experience or knowledge/skills of supporting people with personal care duties.
- Basic Health and Safety knowledge.
- Understanding of safe moving and handling of people - Desirable.
- Demonstrable experience of working with people with a learning disability, dementia, physical disabilities and/or autism, depending on setting - Desirable.
You’ll be comfortable following basic procedures and clear instructions so that little close supervision is necessary. You’ll have the ability to support people to grow in confidence, and a desire to develop their ability to do the things they want to. You’ll have a good working knowledge of safeguarding and managing risks, and you’ll be able to raise concerns in relation to individuals through recognising verbal, physical or behavioural changes and signs.
