Our client is a premier specialist construction company in London, delivering high-value solutions for massive complex infrastructures and commercial landmarks that keeps the UK running. Due to sustained business growth, they have created a brand-new role for a commercially-minded Construction Solicitor who wants to step closer to the front line projects.

In this position, you will act as a strategic partner to bid teams and project managers, providing the critical legal guardrails that allow the business to scale safely and successfully.

The Role and Responsibilities

In this position, you will actively drive the deal by reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex construction contracts including JCT and NEC4 suites, alongside sub-contracts and professional appointments. As a dedicated project partner, you will serve as the primary legal point of contact throughout the construction phase, offering real-time advice on extensions of time (EOTs), payment notices, and variations. A core part of your mission will be to mitigate risk by identifying potential disputes early and implementing pragmatic strategies to avoid formal litigation. Furthermore, you will influence overall business strategy by providing direct, risk-based advice to the senior leadership team on high-value tenders.

Required Qualifications and Skills

To be successful, you must be a UK-qualified Solicitor with a robust background in construction law, ideally falling within the 2 to 6+ years PQE. Successful candidates will need a deep contractual mastery of JCT Design and Build or Standard forms, as well as NEC3 and NEC4 Options A, B, and C. Crucially, you must possess exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex legal jargon into clear, actionable commercial advice for non-legal stakeholders. While not strictly mandatory, familiarity with FIDIC, hands-on experience in adjudication, or previous in-house or secondment experience will be highly advantageous.

Our client offers a highly competitive salary complemented by a comprehensive benefits package that includes free travel, private healthcare, and a performance-related bonus scheme.
