Overview

To ensure that the delivery of mechanical service and repair aspects of the contract are delivered in an effective, efficient and professional manner to the complete satisfaction of all our direct and indirect clients. The role has day-to-day responsibility for non-motorised ground support equipment maintenance / repairs and statutory inspections, and any other reasonable request of the Account Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Able to demonstrate a proven track record with (post apprenticeship) experience of planned maintenance in a highly regulated environment.
  • Work in a small team or singularly to deliver a high output of pre-planned maintenance tasks across the client\’s sites.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on machines and equipment by checking for smooth operation and replacing worn or defective parts, as per the scope of the contract.
  • Identify damage to assets outside the contract scope, prepare a bill of materials and estimate the time required to undertake the repairs.
  • Support the statutory inspection team in identifying non-compliant equipment and carry out inspections if required (LEEA trained would be advantageous).
  • Assist in the preparation of estimates / quotations required.
  • Conform to safety rules and apply good engineering and safety practices.
  • Possess a multi-skilled background with a good understanding of aerospace ground support equipment and electrical systems (advantageous).
  • Be willing to undertake company standard internal training workshops and work to GMP (good manufacturing practice).
  • Operate onsite specific machinery as required (e.g., nitrogen plant, cranes, forklifts, hangar doors).
  • Take responsibility for allocated work orders from receipt to completion, and provide information on progress of these orders.
  • Adhere to all current company procedures and to the Quality Management System applied to all M&E systems.
  • Develop relationships with clients and potential new customers and work within a site team of approximately 20 field and office-based staff.
  • Drive continuous improvement and value for money; be willing to work in a secure and sensitive environment on an exclusively manned site.
  • Be commercially aware, able to identify out-of-scope works and prepare quotes; manage and escort contractors / suppliers on site as required.
  • Be aware of the contracts’ financial position on a monthly basis and support management in ensuring that the allocated volume of scheduled tasks is addressed swiftly and efficiently; note that additional tasks may be assigned where appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to City & Guilds, NVQ or HNC/ HND level in a relevant trade.
  • UK-wide travel may be required at short notice.
  • Attending equipment training courses, which may be outside of the UK.
  • Always have a company mobile phone on in case the Account Supervisor needs to make contact.
  • Strong understanding of IT systems, such as Microsoft Office tools.
  • Willingness to adopt change and work with new IT systems to drive efficiency in output.
  • Role will be based from Heathrow Airport within one of the engineering workshop facilities and applicants will be deployed from there by the Account Supervisor as required by the day’s scheduling.
  • The role may require remaining in the field for the duration of the day and not returning to a central location unless advised by the Account Supervisor.
  • Be able to communicate effectively and have a flexible approach to work patterns.
  • Be able to operate in a secure and sensitive environment; an airside security pass and DBS check with five years of references may be required.
