Role overview: The Technical Strategy Manager is accountable for driving engineering excellence across the Sky Spaces estate, ensuring all technical service delivery aligns to consistent engineering standards, robust processes, and compliance requirements. The role provides strategic and technical leadership, ensuring asset reliability, effective lifecycle management and assured engineering outcomes that support the customer’s core business objectives.
What you'll do:
- Engineering Strategy & Leadership: Lead the development and continuous refinement of the estate engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with core business drivers and delivered through standardised, assured engineering practices. Provide technical leadership that strengthens engineering governance, ensuring consistency in the application of processes, maintenance methodologies and compliance standards across the estate. Embed a culture of engineering excellence and safety through visible, values-led leadership and coaching of technical teams.
- Asset & Lifecycle Management: Oversee and embed a Lifecycle Asset Management (LCAM) approach underpinned by accurate data, structured processes and consistent engineering standards, supported by monthly reporting that enables informed decision-making. Develop and implement proactive maintenance strategies that minimise disruptions, reduce risk and ensure all activities adhere to approved processes, policies and compliance requirements.
- Technical Assurance & Compliance: Ensure engineering delivery is consistently assured through audits, technical reviews and validation of documentation, providing evidence that statutory, mandatory and contractual obligations are met. Monitor and report compliance across the account, ensuring demonstrable adherence to all relevant standards, policies and procedures. Provide technically accurate and assured updates to stakeholders, ensuring communications are based on validated engineering information.
- Process, Policy & Procedure Governance: Ensure all organisational processes and procedures are fully understood, embedded and consistently applied across all engineering activities, driving standardisation and audit readiness. Collaborate with central support functions and SMEs to identify innovation and best practice opportunities that enhance technical delivery and engineering governance.
- Technical Competence Management: Implement a structured competence management framework that ensures team members maintain the required technical capabilities, certifications and behaviours. Monitor competency levels, identify skills gaps, and support training, development, career progression and succession planning across the engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Functional authority and leadership for engineering and technical matters across the Sky Spaces estate.
- Perpetuate and support National Technical Manager leadership through face-to-face interactions where direct leadership is remote (e.g. Osterley Campus).
- Ensure Supply Chain Partners are inducted, permitted, managed and escorted by the Technical Team.
Professional Requirements:
- Engineering degree in a relevant discipline (electrical, mechanical, built environment), Incorporated/Chartered Engineer Status (or evidence of working towards) and membership of a relevant professional body, e.g. CIBSE, IMechE, IET.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of aspects of technical, asset management, safety and risk management including auditing and compliance reporting.
- A comprehensive knowledge of current technical legislation, asset management and ISO standards (e.g. ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO50000).
- Experience of leading large, multi-disciplinary engineering teams across a nationwide portfolio.
- Experience in interpreting and providing authoritative advice on technical, safety and asset management issues.
- Proven successful record of working at Senior Engineering Operations Level.
- Competent in the use of IT applications i.e. Word, Excel and Power Point.

Other Factors:
- This role is part of a national account covering the UK and Ireland, so travel will be required. There is also an expectation for flexibility and overnight stays may sometimes be necessary (accommodation will be provided).
