Job Purpose: This role provides strategic technical leadership and governance across the account, acting as the senior engineer and key advisor to the Strategic Account Director on all engineering matters. Responsible for leading a team of technical subject matter experts to evidence compliance with all technical and environmental legislative and statutory requirements, including technical risk management and business continuity. The role drives the development, implementation, and sustainment of a Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP), ensuring maintenance aligns with SFG-20 (or equivalent) standards and focusing on business-critical asset maintenance, Beyond Economical Repair (BER) asset management, and capital investment planning. It also delivers specialist engineering and energy system advice, oversees technical competence management and assurance delivery, supports all project activities with technical input, and leads the execution of the Capital Plan and carbon reduction initiatives.
About the role
What you'll do:
- Account Level Technical Stewardship: Ensure that all technical services are aligned to the Central EMCOR UK technical policy, statutory requirements and industry best practices (e.g., ISO 55000, SFG20, BS EN standards). Provide authoritative guidance on engineering governance, statutory interpretation, and regulatory alignment across the account.
- Account Assurance & Governance: Set and oversee the account Level 1 and Level 2 technical and asset management assurance activities and inform and oversee the Central Level 3 assurance programmes. Lead audits, compliance reviews, and root cause analysis for critical incidents or systemic issues. Own the technical risk register and escalation framework, ensuring transparent reporting and mitigation.
- Asset Management: Develop and implement an Asset Management strategy aligning all asset maintenance requirements with those required for the BBC. Responsible for ensuring maintenance standards assurance (latest SFG20), asset change management (for added/removed assets) and maintenance compliance. Lead the development of the annual Capital Plan, ensuring all LCAM, Carbon and Energy, workplace and maintenance issues are captured and costed for submission to the BBC.
- Customer and Stakeholder Engagement: Build trusted technical relationships with senior client stakeholders. Support the development of EMCOR UK service and product business cases to support organic growth and inform customer strategic decision-making. Shape client confidence in delivery through proactive engagement and assurance reporting.
- Innovation and Asset Strategy Development: Identify and implement opportunities for self-delivery of services through engagement with other EMCOR UK accounts to drive best practices across the BBC account. Work with the Central Asset Management team to introduce the evolving Asset Dynamics toolkit across the account. Lead technical input to lifecycle investment plans, asset optimisation strategies, and carbon reduction pathways.
- Commercial & Strategic Enablement: Advise on technical risk, service capability, and asset condition in support of financial planning and strategic pursuits. Align technical service delivery with commercial commitments, KPIs, and sector transformation programmes.

Who you'll be:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering (or transferrable people-based discipline) or similar related topic.
- Chartered Engineer with a recognised professional body (e.g., IET, IMechE) or working towards this.
- Proven track record in multi-site technical leadership.
- Extensive experience in compliance-led FM services including hard services, asset management, and project integration.
- Working knowledge and application of CAFM/CMMS systems, digital maintenance tools, and engineering planning platforms.
- A comprehensive knowledge and understanding of aspects of safety and risk management, including current safety issues, legislation, management and ISO standards.
- Working knowledge of quality management systems (ISO9001) with a high degree of procedural, technical and HSE compliance.
- Ability to interpret and provide authoritative advice on technical management issues.
- Experience of informing businesses in good practice technical management.
- Excellent writing, editing, analytical and organisational skills.
- IT literate including Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Smartsheets and Visio.
