Expression of Interest. For this role you will act as the operational lead with client HSE and operational teams, and lead the development and delivery of health, safety and wellbeing strategy, policy, and processes at EMCOR UK.
Location: Hybrid – 3 days on site at Barrow-in-Furness.
Salary: Competitive plus car allowance.
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent.

What You'll Do:
- Lead and inspire the delivery of the Be There for Life (BTFL) whole‑person approach to safety, developing and delivering HSW strategy, policy and processes.
- Engage and develop local implementation of a progressive, integrated safety management system, including site and capital work projects.
- Implement proactive, data‑driven operating systems and preventative methodology.
- Ensure a safe and healthy working environment and meet statutory duties.
- Coordinate all contracted health, safety and wellbeing activity aligned to company policies.
- Partner with client HSE, operational teams and the Safety, Quality and Risk (SQR) team.
- Maintain ISO frameworks (ISO 9001, 45001, 14001, 45003) and act as audit expert.
- Manage a distributed team with direct reports and a small budget for HSE engagement.
- Provide functional authority for safety matters across HR, operations and procurement.
- Oversee safety information from supply chain partners.
- Promote a BTFL culture embracing health, safety and wellbeing principles.
- Represent EMCOR UK’s Safe and Secure value throughout the business.
- Support management with safety and risk intelligence, incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Anticipate future HSE legislation changes and plan adaptations.
- Deliver HSE training to maintain required competence levels.
- Lead Level 3 assurance activities within the SQR framework.
- Collaborate with the SQR team and head of safety operations.
- Represent HSE team at the monthly Community of Practice and other peer groups.
- Assist in implementing the BTFL culture group and balanced scorecard.
- Facilitate a restorative just culture aligned to the BTFL framework.
- Coordinate interactions with statutory bodies and regulatory agencies.
- Assist operations in compliance with all statutory requirements and contract obligations.
About The Role – Qualifications & Experience:
- Level 6 Diploma Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent (NEBOSH Diploma).
- Holding or working toward chartered professional status.
- Experience in a regulated environment.
- Recognised qualification in environmental management systems and legislative frameworks.
- Auditor training or auditing experience.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 45003 standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety and risk management.
- Working knowledge of quality management systems and HSE compliance.
- Methodical and disciplined approach to prioritisation and management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead, develop and inspire a team.
