Job Purpose
To design, draw, price and provide proposals for Fire & security systems for installation and maintenance opportunities.
What You\'ll Do
Design of Fire Detection and Alarm systems in accordance with BS5839 Part 1 (current edition)

  • Design of Security systems (CCTV, Access Control, & Intruder Detection) in accordance relevant British Standards and NSI codes of practice.
  • To manage the estimating process involving Extra works, Major Projects and maintenance opportunities and providing proposals for client consideration
  • Liaise with commercial/technical/operational department in order to comply with company procedures
  • Knowledgeable and control in matters relating to Health & Safety, Environment, Technical and Statutory requirements including CDM regulations and ensure compliance at all times
  • Attendance at client & contract meetings as and when required
  • Prepare project files to include all LPCB/BRE LPS1014, BAFE SP203-1, and NSI Gold documentation from design certification through to verification
  • Preparation of a monthly report for your line Manager detailing activities
  • Ensure all enquiries and leads resulting from Engineer attendance are logged correctly for management traceability
  • Carry out the estimating process for assigned enquiries and leads resulting from Engineer attendance including equipment replacement, repairs, remedial works and extra works.
  • Ensure full understanding of Engineer reports, interact with Engineering to avoid any ambiguity and sanities information to ensure accuracy of proposed works.
Actively manage workload to ensure all leads are processed within specified turnaround times and highlight any potential breach of KPIs to management.
  • Use of EMCOR BMF/PMF Estimating package / system to verify validity of bids.
  • Obtain specialist subcontractor costs where required.
  • Compile costings and calculate quotations based on individual contractual rates and markups.
  • Chase and progress the status of submitted quotations with the client and ensure all tools and databases for measurement are kept up to date.
  • Assist in the production of correspondence and documentation.
  • Achieve agreed KPIs, benchmarks and targets for performance.
  • Interact with client organisations and other EMCOR divisions as required.
  • Maintain industry and product knowledge and research innovative solutions to resolve technical issues when required.
  • Provide meaningful and accurate reports and proactive data and information.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Technical and Compliance Manager.
  • Use of EMCOR BMF/PMF Estimating package / system to verify validity of bids
About The Role
Who you\'ll be:
  • Good IT Skills to include Microsoft Office suite.
  • Methodical and thorough in approach
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Experience within the Fire and Security Industry or engineering background within a similar discipline desirable.
  • Current FIA qualification in Fire Detection & Alarm Advanced Design
  • Security systems Design desired but not essential as training given
  • Good numerical ability and able to produce coherent written word specifications
  • Good sound knowledge and understanding with commercial and contractual issue
  • Estimation and specification creation may expand into other disciplines, including general Electrical and Mechanical extra works for which appropriate training will be given.
  • Smart, presentable appearance.
  • Personable and approachable.
  • A team player with the ability to work from their own initiative.
  • Prepared to work additional hours if and when reasonably requested.
  • Must be willing to undertake further training.
  • Full Driving licence necessary (preferably clean).
