Role Overview
Due to continued growth and internal promotion we are seeking an experienced engineer to join our Data Centre team. To support/deliver, technically and operationally individual or multiple projects related to new works within allocated budgets and defined programmes.
What You’ll Do
- Have good electrical/mechanical knowledge and experience delivering generator projects.
- Show willingness to undertake training on Generator Control Systems including Deepsea, ComAp Control Systems.
- Ensure work is complete to a high standard and inline with EMCOR QA.
- Appoint and manage specialist contractors as required.
- Prepare specifications briefs in consultation with the generators technical and design team / project manager.
- Ensure all RAMS are suitable and sufficient for sub‑contractors and direct resource.
- Prepare programmes in conjunction with the project manager and supply chain; monitor throughout project delivery.
- Attend regular client and pre‑start meetings as required.
- Attend factory acceptance testing ensuring equipment is aligned to specification and performance criteria.
- Oversee completion of snags and defects resulting from FAT, protecting the interests of EUK and stakeholders.
- Ensure all works are managed in accordance with EMCOR standard operating procedures and Health and Safety regulations.
- Be willing to undertake company standard internal training workshops.
- Adhere to EMCOR procurement policies.
- Review technical submissions and sub‑contractor proposals.
Who You’ll Be
- Proven and extensive experience within a technical role on electrical systems.
- Proven experience in standby power systems, including generators & their associated controls.
- Good understanding of IT systems.
- Understanding of Generator Control Systems.
- Proven track record in successful delivery of standby generator power systems.
- Operational and technical experience in mission‑critical environments.
- Technical expertise, qualifications or apprenticeship in a craft skill or engineering discipline would be an important pre‑requisite for the role.
- Hold current qualification of BS7671 wiring regulations.
- Experience in LV panel configurations & safe switching procedures.
- Demonstrable skills in dealing and working closely with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers.
- Willing to undertake training (as required) in installation/commissioning of standby power control systems.
- Ability to plan and organise your work effectively to meet changing environments and needs.
- Ability to liaise with and supervise contractors.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Communicate at all levels, with excellent written and oral skills.
- Self‑motivated and able to manage own workload effectively.
- IT skills required with specific reference to the Microsoft suite of packages.
- Be able to use Microsoft Project to basic standard as a minimum.
- Hold sufficient CDM experience that allows the effective running of projects.
- Preferably hold current ECS gold card.
- Preferably hold SMSTS or IOSH.
