Are you a hands-on Network Infrastructure Engineer looking for a role where you can truly "own" a project from the ground up? I am currently partnering with a premier technology solutions provider in Derby that specialises in mission-critical infrastructure for the UK’s most sensitive sectors. This isn’t just another support role; it’s a rollout of a complex, proprietary emergency communication platform that requires a specialist to learn it "inside and out."
Located in the heart of Derby, our client is a rapidly growing technical powerhouse serving the defence and Critical National Infrastructure sectors. They are a key strategic partner to one of the world’s most famous names in engineering. If you are looking to work on projects that support the security capabilities and high-stakes engineering programs, this is the environment for you.
The Role: What You’ll Be Doing
- System Ownership: Act as the primary technical lead for a large-scale rollout of an intricate emergency communication system.
- Installation & Config: Lead the building-by-building deployment of IP-based speakers, intercoms, and call stations.
- Core Networking: Manage the underlying IP routing, VLANs, and switching infrastructure that keeps everything connected.
- Long-Term Strategy: After the initial rollout, you will transition the project into a long-term maintenance and optimisation phase.
What You’ll Need
- Networking Fundamentals: Strong experience with IP addressing, VLANs, and switching.
- Security Systems Tech: A background in configuring and commissioning electronic security systems (CCTV, Access Control, or Intercoms).
- The Right Mindset: A willingness to specialize in a niche, proprietary system (direct experience with Commend platforms is a huge plus!).
- Security Clearance: You must currently hold or be eligible and willing to undergo SC Clearance.
Location: This is a 100% on-site role in Derby.
Why Apply? This is a rare opportunity to move away from "business as usual" IT and move into High-Security Infrastructure. You will be the "go-to" person for a system that is vital to life safety in high-security environments.
