Are you a hands-on Cyber Security professional with a CCNA or PCCET certification who is ready to become a Fortinet expert? Do you want to be the "go-to" technical specialist for Fortinet security solutions without the heavy burden of full architectural design? We are working with a fast-growing, agile technology disruptor based in Derby. They partner with high-profile blue-chip customers across the UK to deliver cutting-edge network and security transformations. As they continue to scale, we are looking for a dedicated Cyber Security Engineer to take full ownership of security implementations — and we will back you with the training and support to get you there.
The Role:
- Impact & Ownership: As the sole Cyber Security Engineer in the business, you will work directly alongside an experienced Network Architect. You won’t just be maintaining legacy systems; you will be at the heart of greenfield installations and complex security transformations.
- Implement & Deliver: Take architected designs (LLDs) and bring them to life across diverse customer environments.
- Fortinet Specialist (in the making): Lead the configuration and deployment of FortiGate, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, and SD-WAN solutions — with full training and certification support to fast-track your Fortinet expertise.
- Collaborate: Act as the technical bridge between design and reality, providing security-specific input to the Architect.
- Autonomy: Manage your own workload in a fast-paced, project-driven environment where your expertise is trusted from day one.
What We’re Looking For:
- You don’t need to be a Fortinet expert yet — but you do need solid foundations and the drive to get there.
- You should have 5+ years of hands-on experience and hold a current CCNA or PCCET certification.
- Must-Haves:
- A current CCNA or PCCET certification with a genuine appetite to retrain and specialise in Fortinet technologies.
- Strong core networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF/BGP routing, and VPN technologies.
- A track record of delivering greenfield deployments and producing high-quality "as-built" documentation.
- Based in or near Derby, with a full UK driving licence for occasional travel to customer sites and data centres.
- Current SC Clearance, or eligible and willing to undergo the process (UK residency requirements apply).
- Any Fortinet exposure — NSE4/FCP or hands-on FortiGate experience is a bonus, not a barrier.
- Experience with Cisco LAN or Cloud networking (Azure/AWS).
- Background working in regulated or SC-cleared environments.
