We are looking for two .NET Software Developers to join an established engineering team working across a mix of modern .NET applications and long-standing platforms. These roles suit developers who enjoy backend-focused work, care about code quality, and want exposure to both new feature delivery and system improvement.
Core Tech: .NET, ASP.NET MVC, SQL Server, Azure
Location: Derby/Hybrid (1-2 days in the office every other week)
Salary: c£55,000 + Benefits
One of the two roles will suit someone with knowledge or previous experience working on VB.NET applications. This will form only a small part of the position, focused on supporting a legacy system, with the majority of the role centred on modern .NET development and ongoing platform improvement.
You’ll be working across a range of business-critical applications, contributing to ongoing development, maintenance, and improvement. Day to day, you’ll be involved in everything from feature builds through to investigating issues and refining how the team works.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building new functionality within ASP.NET MVC applications
- Developing well-structured backend code using C# and .NET 8
- Working with Entity Framework Core to manage data access and performance
- Writing and optimising SQL Server queries
- Debugging and resolving issues across the application stack
- Reviewing code and contributing to shared development standards
- Working closely with QA, Product, and other developers throughout delivery
- One position will support a legacy system in VB.NET and contribute to its ongoing improvement
What We’re Looking For:
- Solid commercial experience with ASP.NET MVC and C#
- Practical experience using Entity Framework Core and LINQ
- Confidence working with SQL Server in a production environment
- Basic front-end capability using JavaScript, jQuery, and CSS
- Experience using Git for version control
- Awareness of unit testing and an ability to write and maintain simple tests
Useful, But Not Essential:
- Previous exposure to VB.NET or older .NET applications
- Experience working in Microsoft Azure environments
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, ideally using Azure DevOps
- Knowledge of clean code practices, SOLID principles, or modern architectural patterns
