The Business Development Executive (BDE) is responsible for generating and qualifying leads in the early stages of the sales process. You will focus on identifying and engaging potential customers, primarily within the UK Public Sector (Local Government, NHS, NDPB, Blue Light, NFP, HE, and FE), but also explore opportunities outside these sectors. The role involves researching target organisations, initiating conversations, and positioning products/services effectively. The BDE will use multiple outreach channels (email, digital, phone, LinkedIn, and events) to build relationships, understand customer needs, and assess alignment with the company's offerings. Success depends on building rapport and driving opportunities for the sales team.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead generation & prospecting including; Identifying potential clients, developing targeted outreach strategies and build a database of leads using CRM tools.
  • Outbound engagement including; conducting cold calls, nurturing and qualify leads and set up introductory meetings.
  • Market and competitor research; monitor industry trends, identify new opportunities and gather intelligence on customer pain points.
  • Collaboration; work closely with marketing on lead nurturing campaigns, provide insights from customer interactions.

Experience

  • Ideally at least 1 years experience in a business development role
  • Confidence in cold outreach calls, including emails and LinkedIn messaging.
  • Strong research and prospecting skills, with the ability to identify and engage potential clients.
  • Expertise in connecting and engaging decision-makers across multiple channels.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of the sales / discovery / qualification process.
