Warehouse Manager

Potters Bar, Hertfordshire

Monday–Friday | 7:00am–5:00pm

Take ownership. Lead the team. Build a better warehouse.

We are a growing importer and distributor of specialty and mainstream food products, and we’re looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager to take full ownership of our warehouse operation.

This is a key leadership position within the business and an opportunity for someone who wants more than simply maintaining the day-to-day operation.

We’re looking for a confident, hands-on manager who can take charge, set standards and drive improvement. You’ll have the autonomy to assess what the warehouse needs, establish clear priorities, develop the team and put effective systems and processes in place.

If you’re the kind of manager who spots an issue and fixes it, rather than waiting to be told what to do, we’d like to hear from you.

The role

You’ll be responsible for the overall performance of the warehouse, ensuring our operation is safe, organised, efficient and accurate while supporting the continued growth of the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking full ownership of the day-to-day warehouse operation.
  • Leading, managing and developing the warehouse team, with clear expectations and accountability.
  • Setting daily and longer-term priorities for the department.
  • Ensuring goods are received, stored, picked and dispatched accurately and on time.
  • Maintaining excellent standards of stock control, stock rotation and warehouse organisation.
  • Ensuring health & safety standards and procedures are consistently followed.
  • Monitoring warehouse performance and identifying opportunities to improve productivity, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Spotting operational issues early and taking ownership of implementing practical solutions.
  • Planning labour and warehouse resources around daily workloads, seasonal peaks and future business growth.
  • Working closely with Purchasing, Sales, Customer Service and Management to maintain stock availability and deliver excellent service to customers.
  • Managing warehouse procedures, documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Supporting recruitment, training, performance management and development of warehouse employees.
  • Creating a disciplined, organised working environment where high standards become the norm.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced warehouse leader who is comfortable taking responsibility and making decisions.

You should have:

  • Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager or in a senior warehouse leadership position.
  • At least 3 years' management experience.
  • Strong experience leading, managing and developing warehouse teams.
  • A thorough understanding of goods-in, storage, stock control, picking, dispatch and warehouse health & safety.
  • A track record of improving warehouse efficiency, accuracy and team performance.
  • The confidence to set expectations, address performance issues and hold people accountable.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to prioritise effectively in a busy, fast-moving environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
  • A proactive mindset – you identify what needs doing and make it happen.
  • A practical, hands-on management style and a willingness to get involved in the operation when needed.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to make the warehouse your own.

As the business continues to grow, you’ll have the opportunity to shape how the department operates, improve systems and processes, develop your team and have a genuine impact on the performance of the wider business.

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in running a great operation – organised, efficient, accountable and always looking for ways to improve.
