Position Summary

Activity Leaders are responsible for delivering a successful activity programme, providing instruction, guidance and coaching to students while ensuring all activities are delivered in a safe, secure, and tolerant environment with proactive engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of students with whom I am responsible.
  • Ensure activities and excursions operate to the highest standards of Health & Safety and safeguarding practices.
  • Manage and instruct onsite activity sessions, ensuring full student participation at all times.
  • Lead off‑site excursions, maintaining full student participation.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting teamwork, inclusivity, respect and cultural awareness.
  • Maintain high levels of energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism in all interactions with students and colleagues.
  • Clearly communicate information, instructions, and expectations to students during activities, trips and excursions.
  • Actively engage with students, ensuring they feel included, supported, and encouraged to participate fully.
  • Maximise student and group leader satisfaction by ensuring their experience meets or exceeds expectations.

Specific Duties Include

  • Lead, supervise, motivate and engage students on activities and trips.
  • Enthusiastically promote the Activity Programme.
  • Ensure adequate preparation and set up for on/off‑site activities.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging information for walking tours with interactive tasks and photo opportunities.
  • Escort and supervise students on excursions, walking tours and cultural visits, ensuring they understand schedules, meeting points and expected behaviour.
  • Monitor student engagement, attendance, and behaviour, reporting any issues to management as necessary.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions and briefings as required.
  • Maintain levels of student discipline, safety and welfare.
  • Assist in day‑to‑day general duties as required.
  • Work in a way that promotes the safety and well‑being of children and young people.
  • Carry out operational and residential duties to meet centre needs.
  • Create a positive, inclusive and safe workplace environment.
  • Ensure all stock is returned after each session and report any damages.

Organisational Compliance

The job holder will operate in accordance with the company’s Code of Conduct and all relevant local policies and procedures regarding academic, welfare and safeguarding matters. Employees must cooperate fully with Health and Safety arrangements, including risk assessments and relevant training.

Education Required

  • A‑Level or equivalent.

Additional Qualifications Desired

  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Specialism in sports coaching, drama or dance.

Experience Desired

  • Summer school experience, preferably in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience in hospitality or a customer‑facing environment.
  • Specialism in sports coaching, drama or dance.

Working Week

  • 6 days a week (1 day off per week).
  • 42 hours per week.

Remuneration

  • Weekly rate for 2026 coming soon.
  • Free full‑board accommodation included.

Staff Uniform

All staff must wear the designated company uniform while on duty and maintain it in a clean, presentable condition in accordance with the dress code standards.

Disclosure and Barring Service

If you do not have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring certificate or are not registered on the DBS update service, we will need to apply for a new Enhanced DBS for you. Please confirm this at the time of application.
