As Senior Events Marketing Executive you will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and managing a digital and offline marketing strategy to support our events business. In conjunction with the Senior Events Marketing Manager and Group Head of Marketing and the rest of the team and other key stakeholders, your responsibility will be to use offline, online, telesales and social channels to generate interest, engagement, and ensure entries and delegate numbers are met. This will include the capture of data, obtaining new prospects for our portfolio of market-leading conferences and awards events.
As a digital specialist you will demonstrate your deep understanding of different social media channels, SEM/PPC, email marketing and more besides. You will also use offline marketing channels. Using all relevant channels to drive entries, sponsorship and delegates at events. Together with project work around the brands you work on as required. The brands you work on could change as the requirements of the business change. A strong creative flair and the ability to write compelling and persuasive copy is also key, as well as well-honed analytical skills. A background in events marketing is essential, but demonstrable experience engaging audiences online and turning that engagement into revenue, whatever the product, is equally important. You will be able to meet deadlines, juggle multiple projects and interpret data-based results to inform future activity.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver world-class, brand enhancing, marketing communication programmes that increase our event delegate numbers and revenues and enrich customer relationships with us.
- To plan and implement effective, targeted multi-media campaigns to generate awareness, interest, desire, and action in chosen segments.
- To ensure all marketing activity and results are tracked and measured to allow dynamic investment based on analysis of current and past performance.
- Proactively develop and utilise the customer database, including data builds, usage, and analytics, to support marketing strategies and increase effective targeting, response, and conversion rates.
- Create compelling, needs based campaigns that always articulate the value of our brands and the brand propositions working within brand guidelines.
- Work within agreed customer metrics and KPI’s (opens, clicks, CPR, CPA etc.)
- Co-ordinate activity across multiple channels including email, web, print, events, PPC and social media to ensure consistency of message.
- To measure and review performance within key ROI and KPI criteria to increase lead generation, conversion, and retention rates.
- To use market intelligence and customer insight and analysis to increase understanding of our audiences and effectiveness of our campaigns.
- Work with data and digital teams to use all tools, techniques, and touch points to maximise sales effectiveness and create consistent campaign messages across all contact points.
- Share learnings and insights that drive performances.
- Work as a team to achieve both individual and group targets, aligning with agreed-upon priorities.
- Contribute to overall knowledge and expertise within the team to ensure growth targets are met and drive operational excellence.
- Work within and keep up to date with all industry best practice and adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines as required by all EMAP/ TRG employees (DP and privacy, competition law, ASA, Trading standards etc.)
Skills and experience:
- Proven track record in events marketing, campaign management and digital marketing.
- Hold a degree or equivalent marketing diploma.
- Good understanding of online audiences’ behaviours needs and changing trends.
- Proven experience of developing and managing strategic plans and budgets.
- Experience updating websites and of SEO.
- Knowledge of Social Media marketing and PPC.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Web Analytics and Social Media scheduling/analytics tools.
- AdWords, ESPs and CRMs.
- Experience in a design tool desirable (e.g. Canva).
