Job Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teacher of Music to join a flourishing Music Department and play a key role challenging and inspiring our pupils to achieve their full potential in Music. The successful candidate will spur our capable and motivated pupils with an exciting programme of creative opportunities across a huge range of musical genres, delivering enthusiastic and engaging Music teaching. They will also be fully involved in providing relevant opportunities for pupils to engage in music tuition, orchestras, ensembles, concerts, chapel services, music tours and musical/drama productions. As well as delivering excellent classroom teaching, all staff undertake a pastoral role (as a form tutor, or as a co‑tutor if an ECT) and are involved in the wider life of the school through co‑curricular activities and outreach programmes.
Responsibilities
- Inspire and challenge pupils to achieve their full potential in Music.
- Deliver an exciting and aspirational programme of creative activities across a wide range of musical genres.
- Provide music tuition, support orchestras and ensembles, and organise concerts, chapel services, music tours and musical/drama productions.
- Assume a pastoral role as form tutor or co‑tutor, and engage in broader school life via co‑curricular activities and outreach programmes.
- Teach GCSE and A Level Music, maintaining and raising the department’s standards.
Qualifications
- Experienced Teacher of Music with the ability to teach both GCSE and A Level Music.
- Accomplished musician with a passion for building on existing standards.
- Well‑developed piano skills, and possibly organ skills, with the capacity to lead the choral side of the department’s work.
- Strong commitment to teaching, pastoral care, and extracurricular engagement.
