The role Emanuel School is seeking a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Mathematics to join its thriving department on a fixed-term basis. You will join a vibrant and ambitious team of specialist teachers who share a deep passion for maths, working alongside motivated pupils with high aspirations.

Mathematics at Emanuel is a flourishing area of the curriculum, with a strong emphasis on enjoyment, problem-solving and building confidence, while encouraging students to make connections between mathematical concepts and to apply their understanding to real-life contexts. Drawing on your strong subject knowledge, you will deliver stimulating and engaging lessons that challenge and inspire pupils, enabling them to achieve their full potential in mathematics.

As well as delivering excellent classroom teaching, all staff at Emanuel undertake a pastoral role (as a form tutor, or as a co-tutor if an ECT) and get involved in the wider life of the school through co-curricular activities and outreach programmes. We are looking for teachers with strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for mathematics, who are keen to develop their teaching skills and practice in a leading independent school. Applications are welcomed from candidates at all stages of their careers, including Early Career Teachers, experienced teachers and strong mathematics graduates considering a move into teaching. Training and support may be available for the right candidate, subject to a satisfactory probationary period.

There is always a buzz at Emanuel. Colleagues enjoy their work and, like the pupils, are ambitious for the school. With a weekly staff briefing, half termly staff meetings, termly consultative group meetings and a common room committee, all of us are engaged in a lively ongoing dialogue about the school’s aims and aspirations. Everyone works hard here, and anyone joining us should expect to do the same and share our commitment to the highest standards. At the same time our ethos remains unpretentious, kindly and practical, and there’s a strong sense of community and friendship at the school.

We aim to look after our staff well: we have an appraisal scheme with a focus on employees’ professional development; we sponsor postgraduate courses and a range of training opportunities; we offer salary sacrifice childcare vouchers through TEDS Premier, we offer a healthcare plan via Simply Health that includes counselling and medical support; and we’re committed to supporting staff wellbeing. Financially, all staff benefit from good pension provision and free lunches.
