Emanuel School is seeking an enthusiastic and accomplished Teacher of German to join our thriving Modern Foreign Languages department. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire a love of languages and help pupils to achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will deliver engaging German lessons, creating a stimulating classroom environment in which pupils are encouraged to take risks, develop confidence, think critically and deepen their understanding of other cultures.
We are looking for a dynamic linguist who can deliver excellent teaching across the school, inspiring pupils to achieve strong outcomes at (I)GCSE and A level while contributing to our varied and engaging languages provision in the lower school.
Beyond the classroom, the successful candidate will contribute to departmental trips and activities, undertake a pastoral role as a form tutor (or co-tutor for an ECT), and play an active part in the wider life of the school through co-curricular activities and outreach programmes.
Candidates should hold a degree in German, or a joint honours language degree with high honours, and be able to teach German to A level. They should have a strong record of effective Modern Foreign Languages teaching at secondary level, with experience of teaching at (I)GCSE and A level and evidence of contributing to improved pupil outcomes.
Applications are welcome from both experienced teachers and ECTs.
Working at Emanuel
There is a genuine buzz at the school. Colleagues enjoy their work and, like the pupils, are ambitious for the school.
Everyone works hard here, and anyone joining the school should expect to do so. There’s a strong sense of community and source of friendship. From the briefing to all staff, to the half termly staff meetings, termly consultative group meetings and a common room committee, there’s ongoing dialogue about the school’s aims. Colleagues nominate their peers for termly ACE awards to acknowledge those who best embody the school’s values and a whole staff wellbeing day ensures a collegiate and supportive environment between support and teaching staff.
