Overview
The Risk & Controls Manager - Marketing will play a pivotal role in embedding robust risk management practices across marketing activities. This individual will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks associated with marketing campaigns and operations, ensuring all initiatives align with internal governance frameworks, regulatory requirements, and overall business objectives. This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with marketing and legal teams to implement effective control systems, enhance compliance culture, and promote risk awareness across all stages of marketing campaign planning and execution.
Responsibilities
- Risk Identification & Assessment: Proactively identify, assess, and document risks inherent in marketing campaigns, initiatives, and vendor partnerships.
- Control Design & Implementation: Develop and embed effective internal controls to address identified risks and ensure alignment with business risk appetite.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Continuously monitor risk exposure across marketing activities, preparing insightful risk reports and dashboards for senior management.
- Risk Mitigation Strategies: Support the design and execution of targeted risk mitigation and remediation plans in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure marketing activities comply with relevant regulatory standards, data privacy laws, and internal governance policies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Legal, Compliance, and Operational Risk teams to ensure risk considerations are integrated at every stage of the campaign life cycle.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend enhancements to risk and control frameworks, leveraging data and analytics to drive informed decision-making.
Key Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in identifying, evaluating, and managing risks within a complex organisational environment.
- Ability to clearly articulate risks, controls, and recommendations to senior stakeholders and non-technical teams.
- Skilled in interpreting data, performing root cause analysis, and translating findings into actionable insights.
- Understanding of marketing campaign processes, associated risks, and compliance considerations.
- Competent in Excel and familiar with risk management tools and reporting systems.
- Exposure to Marketing and Banking is a must, ideally Retail Banking.
- Understanding of relevant compliance standards and regulatory frameworks impacting marketing practices.
