Girlings & Co, in Ruddington, is seeking an enthusiastic Payroll Apprentice to join their dynamic team. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start a career in payroll, providing practical experience. You will process payroll, issue payslips, create reports, use Sage, and be supported to achieve a Level 3 qualification with EMA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Processing the company's payroll each pay period
  • Maintaining payroll processing systems and records by gathering, calculating, and inputting data
  • Computing employee take-home pay based on time records, benefits, and taxes
  • Answering staff questions about wages, deductions, attendance, and time records
  • Managing requests for leave and absences
  • Handling changes in exemptions, job status, and titles
  • Adhering to payroll policies and HMRC regulations
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies in timesheets and payroll records
  • Maintaining confidentiality of employee pay records
  • Completing payroll reports for record-keeping and review
  • Calculating PAYE taxes and National Insurance contributions
  • Distributing wages via online or email payslips and processing direct bank transfers
  • Submitting Workplace Pension Scheme data to relevant providers
