Part Time Chaplain

Elysium Healthcare is looking for an experienced Chaplain to provide pastoral, spiritual, and religious supports to the patients at Wellesley Hospital in Wellington.

Working part time, 8 hours per week you will seek out and respond to the pastoral, spiritual and religious needs in a sensitive and personal basis.

You will have had recent pastoral experience in a local faith or belief setting or equivalent also with chaplaincy experience within a similar setting.

Your responsibilities:

• Build effective working relationships with multi-professional colleagues to ensure smooth flow of communication about the spiritual needs of patients and families.
• Identify and seek to address complex spiritual and religious needs in pastoral encounters.
• Provide religious support for patients and their families.
• Build effective relationships with faith representatives.
• Keep up to date with relevant chaplaincy/spiritual care research to ensure pastoral, spiritual and religious care is evidence-based.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

• Degree or equivalent in subject relevant to Healthcare Chaplaincy
• Experience in a similar setting
• Recent pastoral experience in a local faith or belief setting or equivalent.
• Counselling experience is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills
