After completing a paid two-week induction, you’ll have access to available shifts at Reene House in Newport, plus the potential future option to work bank shifts regionally at other Elysium services across the region.
There is no minimum number of hours that you need to work, although it is recommended to work as often as you can to ensure your induction knowledge and familiarity with the service is retained. Weekdays, nights and weekend shifts are regularly available, which are easy to view and book through an app. Within a few taps you’ll have the shifts at Reene House secured that you want. Whether your nursing experience is from the NHS or private sector, you can join the team as a Male Bank Healthcare Assistant with an hourly rate that includes a 12.07% uplift to cover annual leave, plus have access to a range of benefits including free meals on duty, free parking and more.
What you will be doing
You will join the team that works well together to provide care for people with mental health conditions. Whether you are currently a Healthcare Assistant, Support Worker or Care Worker, you will utilise your experience to support people to lead a valued and fulfilled life. It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve; being able to do something today that they couldn’t do last week because of you.

The service operates 24/7 with 12.5 hour standard shifts. As a Healthcare Assistant on our bank you’ll be on a zero hour contract, giving you the freedom to choose which shifts you want to work each week.
Where you will be working
Location: Reene House, Lliswerry, Newport, Wales, NP19 0RJ. The service provides a setting that supports individuals to lead a full and valued life. Staff support each person to achieve as much independence as they can. Staff offer a maximum possible choice in activities of daily living and the team embrace diversity and each person’s own unique potential. The service provides a safe environment with dedicated nursing and support staff who work to maintain each person’s citizenship and cultural beliefs. All meals are provided, and special dietary requirements are catered for.
