Are you passionate about building high‑performing learning platforms and optimising complex digital learning systems? If so, join Elysium Healthcare as a Learning Management Systems (LMS) Specialist, where you will take ownership of our Elysium’s Totara LMS and lead the modernisation, configuration, and optimisation of the platform. This role is central to ensuring our LMS is robust, scalable, and aligned with organisational learning needs.

As the LMS Specialist, you will be the organisation’s in‑house Totara expert, responsible for evaluating the current system, redesigning its structure and workflows, and driving enhancements that improve functionality, performance, and user experience. You will lead a comprehensive review of the platform, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen system architecture, and maximise the capabilities of Totara.

Working closely with subject matter experts, you will ensure the platform supports high-quality learning pathways by reorganising and curating legacy materials into structured, branded journeys with consistent navigation and a cohesive user experience. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, instructional design awareness, and strong stakeholder engagement skills. You will be someone who understands what “great” looks like within learning and development and is confident in proposing improvements, while balancing collaboration and prioritisation.

It’s an exciting time to help shape the future of learning at Elysium Healthcare, ensuring high‑quality development that supports compassionate, safe care. As a primarily remote role, there is occasional travel to the office as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the configuration, optimisation, and enhancement of the Totara LMS to support mandatory training, clinical competencies, and continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Conduct a full diagnostic review of the current LMS setup – including architecture, workflows, permissions, navigation, and user experience – and implement improvements based on best practice.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison with the LMS vendor, managing upgrades, feature requests, integrations, and system‑level troubleshooting.
  • Customise Totara functionality to support organisational learning strategies and evolving workforce development needs.
  • Collaborate with eLearning content creators and subject matter experts to ensure the platform effectively supports the delivery of engaging digital learning pathways.
  • Organise, rationalise, and restructure legacy content into coherent, branded learning journeys, ensuring consistency and system‑level optimisation.
  • Monitor system performance, diagnose complex technical issues, and coordinate with IT teams or vendors to ensure reliability, security and scalability.
  • Use learner analytics and system data to identify trends, inform decision‑making, and drive continuous platform improvement.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, configuration records, and technical guidance to support effective LMS use.
  • Stay current with Totara updates, eLearning trends, and emerging technologies to proactively shape the future direction of the platform.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Minimum 2 years’ hands‑on experience configuring and optimising a LMS, ideally Totara (Moodle-based experience also considered).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead system improvements, platform redesigns, or LMS optimisation projects.
  • Experience working within healthcare or other highly regulated environments, ensuring compliance with standards and audit requirements.
  • Experience working in cross‑functional teams to deliver effective learning solutions.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills expertise and a methodical, solutions‑focused approach.
  • Ability to evaluate system quality and provide clear, evidence‑based recommendations for improvement.
  • Understanding of learning design principles and the ability to collaborate effectively with content creators and SMEs.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills, including the use of learner data to inform platform enhancements.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and eLearning compliance frameworks (SCORM, xAPI).
  • Familiarity with system integrations (e.g., HRIS and Power BI) to support seamless data flow and reporting.
