Are you an experienced CYPMHS Eating Disorder Consultant Psychiatrist looking for an opportunity where you will be part of a supportive and experienced team providing Tier 4 inpatient services to young people with eating disorders? Join Brighton and Hove Clinic, which is a specialist Inpatient Eating Disorder service for children and young people aged 12 up to 18 years, and you will be providing evidence-based and focused treatment programmes designed for the individual needs of each young person.
You will be registered on the Specialist Register for Child and Young People Psychiatry with a license to practice with experience of CYPMHS Eating Disorders and leading multidisciplinary teams. As part of this role you will be required to participate in the on-call rota for a small group of CYPMHS & ED services. As the Consultant Child and Young People Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will include:
- Review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission
- Conduct Admission assessment and ensure effective management plans
- Participate in the assessment and management of children and young people referred to the Service
- Conduct risk assessment and review regularly
- Assess physical health
- Provide leadership, supervision, reflection, and risk management to the key workers on the team
- Abide by, and contribute to, the governance arrangements and processes of the service, including providing a culturally competent practice, appropriate record keeping, and discharging duties under the safeguarding children agenda
- Enact cross cover arrangements for annual, study and professional leave, with the other child and adolescent psychiatrists in the department
- Participation in the CYPMHS Consultant on-call duty rota
- Participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
- Establish effective working relationships with GPs, CYPMHS community teams, specialists and commissioners
- Uphold the principles of Clinical Governance and adhere to the organisation’s clinical governance requirements
- Take part in an Annual Appraisal Programme, with the development of Personal Development Plans, focused on Continuing Professional Development
- Adhere to all the organisations policies and procedures
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
- Extensive experience in CYPMHS, including inpatient settings
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team-working skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and trauma-informed care
- Experience in service development or research
- Additional training in psychotherapy or systemic approaches
