Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all aspects of the physical health needs of service users, while supporting colleagues and promoting teamwork with the multidisciplinary team (e.g., GPs and SALTs).
- Facilitate physical healthcare plans/treatments to patients to maintain their optimum level of physical well-being.
- Facilitate/support staff to ensure routine and ad hoc tests (e.g., blood screening for Clozapine/Lithium) are carried out as prescribed and the results are recorded appropriately in Care notes.
- Facilitate/support routine testing for long-term conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes) and ensure results are recorded in Care notes and in line with latest national guidance.
- Lead the development and review of all care plans for physical health to ensure patients have clear interventions that are being met.
- Support the clinical team on the ward and cover staff when required.
- Ensure that all patients have their ECGs as prescribed by the Consultant and document evidence in Care notes.
- Lead education of staff regarding the use of naso-gastric tube feeding, ensuring adherence to prescriptions from the dietitian and updated care plans reflecting current prescriptions.
- Attend weekly ICR meetings to contribute to the development and review of physical healthcare plans.
- Chair the hospital’s healthy living group, promoting physical well-being topics on a monthly basis (e.g., obesity, smoking cessation, exercise).
- Act as the named lead for infection control within the hospital, providing professional advice, education, and support to staff in all clinical and non-clinical areas.
- Undertake clinical audits and support emergency drills; facilitate educational workshops/teaching sessions on aspects of physical care and healthcare best practice treatments.
- Support immunisation within the hospital (e.g., flu vaccine, routine childhood vaccinations) ensuring timely delivery.
- Promote healthcare/health promotion across a range of conditions for staff.
- Work alongside families and professionals to develop a positive approach to healthy living.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Hold a full and valid NMC registration (evidence required).
- A minimum of 2–3 years post-registration experience.
- Experience in NG feeding and phlebotomy.
- Experience in training others.
- An understanding of mental health.
Location
Bere Clinic, Hemlock Road, Waterlooville, PO8 8QT. 12-bed CAMHS service to support young people aged 12–18 with eating disorders. Onsite school providing educational services while the young people are in care and full multidisciplinary team.
