You will be instrumental in promoting health and independence by delivering high-quality occupational therapy assessments and interventions, along with providing clinical leadership, supervision, and consultation to the wider multidisciplinary team. You will be key in demonstrating highly specialist expertise and specialist occupational therapy skills in areas such as occupational engagement, environmental adaptation, development and maintenance of skills needed for meaningful participation.
You will also have experience in managing a designated caseload using theoretical and practical experience, completing assessments, planning, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans. Your responsibilities as a Senior Occupational Therapist will include:
- Communicating effectively with a range of clinicians, managers, directors, associate directors, people who access services, carers/supporters/family members, stakeholders, and agencies.
- Providing compassionate and effective leadership to junior staff including support staff and assistants.
- Ensuring the delivery of occupational therapy student placements.
- Supporting the completion of appraisals/personal development plans with junior staff.
- To be responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate policies, protocols, and care pathways.
To be a successful Senior Occupational Therapist you will need:
- Occupational Therapy profession qualification.
- UK HCPC Registration.
- Extensive experience of applying occupational frames of reference and approaches.
- Demonstrates evidence of highly effective clinical reasoning skills.
- Highly specialist knowledge of relevant assessment and treatment models.
- Knowledge of how to work with neurodiverse individuals.

Where you will be working: Location: The Dean Neurological Centre has 60 beds in Gloucester (GL2 9EE), which is on the outskirts of the town within easy commute from Gloucester, Cheltenham, and surrounding villages. The Centre delivers specialist 24-hour nursing and therapy services for people with complex long-term neurological conditions who require ongoing support and assistance to maximise functional ability. It specialises in slow stream rehabilitation where the emphasis is placed on maximising each individual's abilities, comfort, and quality of life. Bedrooms are fitted with high dependency equipment, including ceiling track hoists, wall-mounted suction and oxygen equipment, with all rooms adapted to individual requirements. There are also well-equipped therapy facilities and other facilities such as gardens, gym, and minibus.
