Elysian provides therapeutic education, alternative provision and animal-assisted interventions for children and young people (CYP) across Surrey and Hampshire. We are looking for an established, experienced and competent Therapeutic Support Worker to join our team.

This is a senior frontline role. You will support CYP with complex needs through their day, with a strong focus on emotional, behavioural and therapeutic support, in a farm-based setting where animals and nature are part of the work. You will deliver therapeutic sessions on our sites and, where required, outreach work and sessions away from our sites, such as home visits or sessions at other locations. Each Therapeutic Support Worker also has a specialist area of practice, such as therapeutic practice, behaviour, mental health or animal and equine work, and leads on that area for the team.

The role involves:

  • Working outdoors year-round in a farm-based environment.
  • Supporting CYP with complex needs one to one or in small groups.
  • Delivering and supporting structured therapeutic and educational sessions, on site and away from site.
  • Taking part in hands-on animal care and farm duties.
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and guiding junior staff, volunteers and work experience placements.
  • Keeping clear and compliant records, and playing a key part in safeguarding.

About you:

  • At least 3 years’ experience working directly with children or young people.
  • Understanding and experience of working with SEND and SEMH needs.
  • Strong emotional resilience and adaptability.
  • A genuine interest in animal care and outdoor learning.
  • Excellent communication and teamworking skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practice and professional boundaries.
  • Knowledge of behaviour support, trauma-informed practice or psychoeducation.
  • A full UK driving licence, needed for multi-site and outreach work.
  • Willingness to work outdoors, do physical tasks and work with animals daily.

It would also help to have a degree or qualification in a relevant field such as education, social care or therapy, experience in Equine Assisted Therapy or Animal Assisted Activities, and experience in educational or therapeutic settings.
