Job Description
Elwood is seeking an experienced PMS Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This role focuses on the design, development, and analytical requirements of our industry-leading Portfolio Management System—a core component of our Trading Platform—while working closely with the Product Team. You will be part of small, highly autonomous teams that take end-to-end ownership of features, thrive with minimal oversight, and drive projects from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, enhance, develop and support our Portfolio Management System with Golang to fulfill essential business and product requirements.
- Work as a member of the Elwood Engineering team to ensure consistency across instances and the broader client build roadmap.
- Take ownership of the design, development and testing of new features from concept to deployment.
- Build features that help customers collaborate on asset management.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers and senior leadership to turn our product and technical vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter.
- Monitor and support all production system components, ensuring stability and performance, and enhance our platform for low latency/high frequency trading.
- Leverage AI tools such as Claude to assist in writing, reviewing, and continuously improving code quality and output.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
Qualifications / Knowledge
- Financial Services experience (Buy or Sell-Side).
- Experience with a portfolio, execution, or order management systems is an advantage.
- Proven commercial experience developing services with Golang or experience with other strongly typed languages such as Java, C++, and C#.
- Proficiency in building REST, WebSockets, and/or FIX-based APIs.
- Familiarity or experience with messaging systems like NATS or Kafka.
- Experience deploying software on cloud native tech platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, K8s).
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
- Database development experience using PostgreSQL or similar (MySQL, Oracle).
- Excellent object-oriented or functional programming expertise.
- A proven ability to own outcomes and work effectively with others to deliver high-quality software.
- Bachelor's degree or relevant work experience in a technical discipline.
- Experience effectively using AI assistants such as Claude to augment your capabilities and enhance your role as a developer.
