Overview

Elwood Recruitment are recruiting for Qualified Children & Young Adults Support Workers in Coventry. This role is for individuals with a passion for taking care of and supporting vulnerable children.

About the role

You will provide support to children and young people aged 5-18 years who have moderate to severe learning disabilities, behavioural challenges, ADHD and autism spectrum disorder. You will work with the young people to promote daily living skills, assist and support self-regulation, and develop independent living skills in line with a support plan designed around the young person. You will be part of the care and support team, helping to maintain a safe and enabling environment that provides positive experiences to children living within the service.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting, mentoring and educating children with day-to-day activities to develop their emotional and social needs
  • Developing personal and practical skills to enhance independent living
  • Providing positive engagement to encourage children and young people in their development
  • Reporting and recording key aspects of care and developing your professional skills as part of an ongoing development plan
  • Managing complex behaviours that may present challenges
  • Providing support and engagement with a range of activities

Typical shift patterns

On offer we have flexible shift patterns to suit your lifestyle, giving you full control of when you would like to work. Candidates can expect a mixture of early shifts, late shifts, long days and waking nights on a weekly basis.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Essential Experience: Care & Support Work – 6 months in the UK
  • Essential Qualifications: QCF/NVQ Level 3 Children & Young People
