About the Role:
We are seeking a Network Engineer to support the design, operation and ongoing development of secure global networks used across maritime, satellite and government communication systems. You will work within a specialist engineering environment supporting both internal infrastructure and customer networks, ensuring reliability, security and performance across complex WAN environments. The role involves hands-on engineering, troubleshooting and collaboration with internal IT and engineering teams.

It also delivers customised system solutions tailored to specific customer needs. The organisation operates across several countries, including several European countries, Singapore, and the USA, employing approximately 250 people globally.

Location: Redhill, Surrey, UK + up to 6 Days/Month Remote
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain and support internal and customer network environments throughout their lifecycle.
- Design, build, test and commission network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls and VPN environments.
- Troubleshoot complex networking issues across routing, compression and long-latency satellite networks.
- Monitor network performance and analyse logs to identify trends or recurring issues.
- Maintain network documentation, including configurations, schematics and support procedures.
- Collaborate with IT, engineering and operations teams to maintain secure network access across multiple environments.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex network support issues.
- Support planned maintenance activities and communicate scheduled outages.
- Participate in an out-of-hours support rota when required.
Technical Environment:
The role involves working with technologies such as:
- Cisco routers and switches
- Fortinet Fortigate firewalls (FortiManager / FortiAnalyzer)
- WAN, LAN, VPN and satellite network environments
- BGP, OSPF, IPSEC, QoS and IP SLA
- VoIP networking environments
- Linux-based systems
Additional technologies that may be encountered include MPLS, 802.1x, multicast, containerisation and automation tools.
What We’ll Expect:
- Experience designing, supporting and troubleshooting enterprise networks.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies.
- Strong understanding of routing protocols and secure network architecture.
- Experience working with firewalls, VPN technologies and network security controls.
- Ability to analyse network performance issues and implement improvements.
- Experience providing 2nd and 3rd line network support.
- Comfortable working across multiple engineering teams in a technical environment.
Qualifications:
- CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet certification or equivalent networking experience.
- Approximately five years’ experience supporting enterprise network environments.
- Background in telecommunications, satellite communications or maritime technology is advantageous.
- Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK security clearance.
