An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Datacomms Technician to join a specialist Enterprise Engineering team supporting global communications infrastructure across satellite networks, maritime environments, remote sites and enterprise customer networks. This role would suit someone with experience in networking, telecommunications, ISP support, NOC operations, IT infrastructure, technical support or datacomms who is looking to develop within a highly technical engineering environment. You will support the delivery, installation, testing and maintenance of customer networking solutions while working alongside experienced Datacomms and Network Engineers on a wide variety of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the build, implementation, testing, commissioning and installation of customer network solutions
  • Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across customer communications and networking environments
  • Support TCP/IP-based networks including routing, switching and firewall technologies
  • Assist with the deployment and maintenance of satellite communications, LTE and enterprise networking solutions
  • Support customer projects both from the Redhill office and at remote customer locations when required
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for customer projects and solutions
  • Assist with the evaluation and testing of new technologies, products and services
  • Work closely with Engineering, Networks, Security and Customer Support teams
  • Participate in engineering support activities and customer escalations
  • Keep up to date with emerging networking and communications technologies

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience within a networking, telecommunications, ISP, NOC, IT infrastructure or technical support environment
  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts including routing, switching and firewalling
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting technical faults
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Professional, proactive and customer-focused approach
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical expertise

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience supporting WAN, LAN or enterprise networking environments
  • Linux or Windows Server administration knowledge
  • Asterisk or VoIP platform exposure
  • Programming or scripting knowledge (Bash, Perl or similar)
  • Exposure to satellite communications technologies
  • Cisco networking certifications (CCNA or equivalent)
  • Experience with project delivery or technical implementations
  • HNC, HND or Degree in Networking, Telecommunications, IT, Computer Science or a related discipline

Security / Eligibility Requirements:

  • Candidates must have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years
  • Due to the nature of the customer environments supported, applicants must meet UK residency and NATO nationality requirements.
