Overview
Contract Length: 3 months (potential for extension). Location: Predominantly North of England & Scotland (occasional travel to Mansfield HQ). Start Date: ASAP (September 2025 target). Working Pattern: Weekly site visits + remote support via MS Teams. Role: Construction Health, Safety, Wellbeing & Environment (HSW&E) Advisor to support the existing team of three permanent advisors. Focus on CDM projects, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, promoting a positive safety culture, and providing proactive support to project teams.
Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Construction HSW&E Advisor to provide additional support to our existing team. The role will focus on CDM projects, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, promoting a positive safety culture, and providing proactive support to project teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide HSW&E support across multiple construction projects (CDM regulated).
- Review project/CDM safety documentation and provide guidance to Project Managers.
- Conduct regular weekly site inspections across Scotland and northern England.
- Record findings and observations on the Assure HSW Management Reporting Platform.
- Support operational teams, including:
- – Public Safety projects
- – Subsidence works
- – Environment (mine water treatment) schemes
- Provide ad hoc CDM/construction HSW&E advice to other business teams as required.
- Attend occasional visits to Mansfield HQ (facilities projects).
- Participate in virtual team meetings via MS Teams.
- Maintain recognised H&S qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent).
- Membership of IOSH (GradIOSH or CMIOSH desirable).
- Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction site safety.
- Experience in conducting inspections and audits across multiple project sites.
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel weekly across sites.
- Previous experience in utilities, infrastructure, mining, or environmental projects.
- Familiarity with digital HSW reporting systems (e.g. Assure).
- Knowledge of environmental management within construction.
Contract & Logistics
- Contract type: 3-month secondment (via framework agreement).
- Location base: Ideally located in Scotland or the North of England to allow weekly site travel.
- Expenses: Travel expenses reimbursed (details to be confirmed).
- Rate: Competitive – subject to experience and framework agreement.
