The organisation builds advanced geospatial, AI-powered, and ISR solutions that integrate into platforms such as UAVs, edge computing systems, and defence environments.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex integration challenges, working with cutting-edge sensor data, and enabling real-world impact in mission environments. You will work at the intersection of software, embedded systems, payload integration, and customer operations, supporting the deployment of next-generation spatial intelligence tools into UAV and ISR ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as the technical lead for solution integrations involving satellite imagery, full motion video, and related sensor data into UAV visual positioning, odometry, and navigation systems.
- Collaborate with UAV OEMs, defence integrators, and mission customers to support system demonstrations, prototyping, and field testing.
- Conduct bench and field integration activities, including configuration of companion computers (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Raspberry Pi), autopilot stacks (PX4, ArduPilot), and analysis of telemetry, imagery, and navigation data.
- Assess integration feasibility, including SWaP considerations and solution design, ensuring successful deployment in demanding environments.
- Develop integration procedures, test plans, troubleshooting documentation, and technical guides.
- Provide feedback to internal engineering teams to enhance product performance, usability, and reliability under operational conditions.
- Contribute to technical materials for RFP/RFI responses and solution proposals.
- Collaborate with internal product, engineering, and field teams to define interfaces, data flows, and integration paths between software products and OEM systems.
- Support the technical articulation and positioning of capabilities to high-value customers.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience supporting ISR, UAS, aerospace, or defence system integrations.
- Strong proficiency in Python and C++ for integration, SDK adaptation, and prototype development.
- Experience with ISR-relevant imagery/video formats: GeoTIFF, MPEG-TS, KLV metadata, H.264/H.265, STANAG 4609, MISB.
- Understanding of 3D terrain formats (DEM/DTED, 3D Tiles) and coordinate systems such as WGS84, UTM.
- Familiarity with frameworks/tools such as OpenCV, PyTorch, GDAL, Cesium, Unity.
- Practical knowledge of embedded Linux systems (Jetson, Raspberry Pi, NXP).
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally across product, engineering, and field teams.
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally (approx. 25%, occasionally up to 50%).
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Vision, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with embedded Linux tools/configurations: systemd, Yocto, Docker.
- Knowledge of GNSS/INS, video odometry, or visual-inertial fusion systems.
- Experience with UAV systems, including configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting with autopilot interfaces.
- Familiarity with OGC geospatial standards (WMS, WMTS, WFS) and real-time streaming protocols.
- Experience with data transport frameworks such as ZeroMQ, Protobuf.
- Hands-on experience building or modifying companion computer architectures (Jetson, Raspberry Pi, STM32MP1).
- Background in AI/ML for computer vision, sensor fusion, or ISR analytics.
- Experience performing technical feasibility assessments for mission-critical or edge-deployed systems.
- Valid UK or EU security clearance is a bonus.
