The Role
We are seeking a Technical Service Manager to take full ownership of UK Government support cases within a secure military satellite communications environment. This is a handsāon, missionācritical role interfacing directly with MoD stakeholders, internal engineering teams, and service support functions.
The role suits a technically capable communicator with experience in military / defence communications, particularly Royal Navy, defence networks, COMSAT / MILSAT, message handling systems, or secure maritime SatCom environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for the UK Government CSCS contract support case
- Coordinate internal resolver groups to ensure timely ticket progression and closure
- Provide service status updates and technical briefings to internal leaders and MoD representatives
- Plan and oversee service visits, including spares, equipment tracking, and documentation
- Manage smooth handovers and minor project delivery activities
- Maintain accurate case, asset, and service records within secure platforms (e.g., Secure Insight)
- Identify recurring issues and implement process / service improvements
- Deliver onboarding and training for 1st / 2nd line support teams
- Support documentation standards, rollout activities, and obsolescence planning
- Be prepared to "lead from the front" and take ownership in highāpressure or timeācritical situations
MustāHaves
- Eligible to hold DV (Developed Vetting) Security Clearance
- Royal Navy communications or similar defence communications background (COMSAT / MILSAT / MNE / message handling)
- Strong understanding of IT networking, SatCom systems, and electronic / electrical equipment
- Confident communicator able to work directly with senior MoD and government personnel
- Proactive, organised, and resilient under pressure
- Competent in standard office systems and ticketing tools
- Willingness to travel when required
Nice to Haves
- ITIL certification or understanding of ITIL service processes
- Experience with obsolescence planning, spares management, or project coordination
